Vector Surveillance (identification, population density monitoring) is an important interventional tool to understand and control Vector Borne Diseases like Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, JE etc. which are transmitted by vectors (mosquitoes). This activity is labour intensive and slow and results take months of information collation. However a smart alternative is to build a sentinel device incorporating AI and deep learning models of ML capable of automating the manual process. IoT incorporation can facilitate vector density monitoring on a real time basis even from remote locations. The device on a standalone mode is designed to lure and kill mosquito with high effectiveness through Pheromone deployment and at the same time identify the species and send alert if mosquito is of the disease causing kind. The individual device shall be targeted to B2C and B2B segments like individual households and business premises with large footfalls like Malls, Restaurants, Cinema theatres, Schools, Hospitals, Clinics, Museums, Children Parks, Railway Platforms etc.
Such standalone devices can feed real time data due to embedded IoT and aggregation of this data over a period of time can constitute a heat map of each geographical territory and help to constitute an Early Warning System to predict a looming Vector Borne Disease epidemic. This information as a service can be sold to B2G segments like Smart City Planners of Government, Municipality entomology departments and B2B segments like Residential schools, Large gated community welfare association and Manufacturers of Mosquito related consumer products as market information. This has application in Preventive Healthcare as well as Agricultural pest control with global scaling up potential.
